Configuring the NTP Broadcast Mode

This topic describes how to configure the MA5680T/MA5603T for clock synchronization in the NTP broadcast mode. After the configuration is completed, the server periodically broadcasts clock synchronization packets through a specified port, and the client listens to the broadcast packets sent from the server and synchronizes the local clock according to the received broadcast packets.

Run the ntp-service refclock-master command to configure the local clock as the master NTP clock, and specify the stratum of the master NTP clock.
(Optional) Configure NTP authentication. In certain networks that have strict requirements on security, it is recommended that you enable NTP authentication when running the NTP protocol. The configuration of the server must be the same as that of the client.
Run the ntp-service authentication enable command to enable NTP authentication.
Run the ntp-service authentication-keyid command to set an NTP authentication key.
Run the ntp-service reliable authentication-keyid command to declare that the key is reliable.
Add a VLAN Layer 3 interface.
Run the vlan command to create a VLAN.
Run the port vlan command to add an upstream port to the VLAN so that the user packets carrying the VLAN tag are transmitted upstream through the upstream port.
In the global config mode, run the interface vlan command to create a VLAN interface, and then enter the VLAN interface mode to configure the Layer 3 interface.
Run the ip address command to configure the IP address and subnet mask of the VLAN interface so that the IP packets in the VLAN can participate in the Layer 3 forwarding.
Run the ntp-service broadcast-server command to configure the NTP broadcast server mode of the host, and specify the key ID for the server to send packets to the client.

Assume the following configurations: MA5600T/MA5603T_S uses the local clock as the master NTP clock on stratum 2 and works in the NTP broadcast mode, broadcasting clock synchronization packets periodically through IP address 10.10.10.10/24 of the Layer 3 interface of VLAN 2, and MA5600T/MA5603T_C functions as the NTP client, listening to the broadcast packets sent from the server through IP address 10.10.10.20/24 of the Layer 3 interface of VLAN 2 and synchronizing with the clock on the broadcast server. To perform these configurations, do as follows:
On MA5600T/MA5603T_S:
huawei(config)#ntp-service refclock-master 2
huawei(config)#vlan 2 standard
huawei(config)#port vlan 2 0/19 0
huawei(config)#interface vlanif 2
huawei(config-if-vlanif2)#ip address 10.10.10.10 24
huawei(config-if-vlanif2)#ntp-service broadcast-server
huawei(config-if-vlanif2)#quit
On MA5600T/MA5603T_C:
huawei(config)#vlan 2 standard
huawei(config)#port vlan 2 0/19 0
huawei(config)#interface vlanif 2
huawei(config-if-vlanif2)#ip address 10.10.10.20 24
huawei(config-if-vlanif2)#ntp-service broadcast-client

huawei(config Huawei MA5680T -if-vlanif2)#quit

Configuring the ADSL2

The ADSL2+ line profile of the MA5600/MA5603 supports only the downstream seamless rate adaptation (SRA).
Assume that the channel mode of an ADSL2+ line profile is interleaved, the adaptation mode for the downstream transmission rate is fixed, the maximum downstream delay is 100 ms, the maximum upstream delay is 100 ms, the minimum downstream transmission rate is 2048 kbit/s, the maximum downstream transmission rate is 2048 kbit/s, the minimum upstream transmission rate is 1000 kbit/s, and the maximum upstream transmission rate is 1100 kbit/s. To configure such an ADSL2+ line profile, do as follows:
huawei(config)#adsl line-profile quickadd basic-para full-rate trellis 1 bitswap
 1 1 channel interleaved 100 100 adapt fixed snr 5 4 9 5 4 9 rate 2048 2048 1000 1100
To quickly add an ADSL2+ extended line profile, whose 34-456 sub-carriers are disabled, and the L2 power management mode is configured, do as follows:
huawei(config)#adsl extline-profile quickadd missingtone section_1 34-456 1 inp
minimum-inp-downstream noProtection(0) minimum-inp-upstream singleSymbol(1) psd
42 l2 l2state enable minimum-L0-time 60 minimum-L2-time 60 maximum-power-per-L2
3 total-maximum-power 9
Assume that the ID of the profile is 4, all the thresholds on the local/remote end are set to 100s, the difference between the transmission rate in the channel mode and the former transmission rate is 1000 kbit/s, and the profile name is test-profile. To quickly configure such an ADSL2+ alarm profile, do as follows:
huawei(config)#adsl alarm-profile quickadd 4 atu-c trap enable 100 100 100 100 1

Configuring the Multicast Service on a Single-NE Network

The multicast feature of the MA5600/MA5603 is applied to the live TV and near-video on demand (NVOD) multicast video services. The MA5600/MA5603 runs the IGMP proxy or IGMP snooping protocol, and the interconnected device can run the IGMP proxy, IGMP snooping, or multicast router protocol.

Currently, the multicast application of the MA5600/MA5603 is oriented to L2, and the MA5600/MA5603 forwards data based on VLAN ID+multicast MAC address. A multicast program on the network is identified by VLAN ID + multicast IP address uniquely. The MA5600/MA5603 differentiates multicast sources by VLAN ID. It allocates a unique VLAN ID to each multicast source, controls the multicast domain and the user right based on the multicast VLAN ID, and provides a platform for different ISPs to implement different multicast video services.

UATool Usage Scenario

The UATool must be used to upgrade the ME60. The UATool can be used in three upgrade scenarios. Huawei recommends the first two scenarios. The third scenario, on-site upgrade, can be used if necessary. The three scenarios are described below:
  Remote upgrade with nearby support
Software commissioning engineers remotely upgrade the ME60 from the network management center. Spare part provisioners wait near the site and are ready to deliver spare parts to the site quickly. Huawei recommends this scenario in the following situations:
−    The project is at the site deployment stage, and there are no stringent time requirements for replacing spare parts.
−    The spare part provisioning site is close to the upgrade site with favorable traffic and road conditions so that spare parts can be installed within the required time frame.
−    There are backup planes or links on the customer's network, and customer requirements allow enough time to install spare parts.
  Remote upgrade with on-site support
Software commissioning engineers remotely upgrade the ME60 from the network management center. Spare part provisioners wait on site. Huawei recommends this scenario if spare parts cannot be delivered to the site within the required time frame.
  On-site upgrade
Software commissioning engineers upgrade the ME60 on site. Spare parts are also available on site. This scenario can be used when only one site is being upgraded.
Huawei recommends that the upgrade is performed using the UATool. The UATool can automatically compare pre-upgrade services and post-upgrade services. This prevents operator errors during the upgrade and decreases upgrade risks.
In all the three scenarios, software commissioning engineers must be Huawei engineers with a good command of the ME60 upgrade procedures. The personnel providing and replacing parts (who can be engineers from Huawei partners or customer staff) must be able to correctly identify product models and replace boards.
The three scenarios described above are examples of typical upgrade situations. Engineers can flexibly determine the way the upgrade is performed based on the real-world situation.

The ME60 plays an important role on a network. Ensure that spare parts are available when using the UATool to upgrade the ME60-X3
